read from process binary mode?

On Windows 2000 when I read from process the carriage returns get 
converted to line feeds.  I expect this is an attempt to convert 
line ends to match Revolution line ends.

I'd like to turn this off.  Is there a way?

First of all, on Windows 2000 some applications use cr as end of 
line and some use cr lf.  In the latter case I end up with double 
lines.

Second, I have a place where I want to see what is really there.
