It is, in the sense that the engine uses RLE by default.

The IDE has a number of areas where its designers choose to conceal 
engine behaviors from their users, causing much confusion among users 
who see differences in their standalones.

If they feel PNG should be the default, so they feel this way strongly 
enough to change the engine default?  If not, is it really the wisest 
choice for the IDE?
