strange pulldown menus

Yes, that diagnosis makes more sense as the problem appears limited to 
non-OS menus.

This has been logged at 
<http://support.runrev.com/bugdatabase/show_bug.cgi?id=2919>, and I was 
able to show Mark Waddingham the symptom and recipe.  I trust he's on 
top of it.
