Because the IDE (or any stack) can change the properties of the 
defaultGraphic, etc. What Rev does is to change the default objects 
in new object handlers. (For example, in a newGraphic handler, it 
sets the opaque of the defaultGraphic.) This makes the default 
setting different from the engine setting - but it's all done with a 
newGraphic handler, so it doesn't require engine differences.
