array notation since v2.2

I'm resurrecting a project last worked on in v2.2, before the addition of
customPropertySets.

While all properties had previously been in a single property set (the only
one available at the time), opening the stacks in v2.5.1 shows them with
multiple property sets.

It seems the notation originally used for the properties is now being parsed
differently.  It's hard to imagine that this is the only project affected by
this -- do any of you recall having properties become property sets in v2.3
and later?  How did you resolve that?
