Quick Time stuttering

I may or maynot have had a similar experience. So I'm not sure if this will apply to you.

I've found that it's a good idea to set the filename of a player to empty before starting new movies.

This is especially true when recording sounds which you will play with a player. The file remains open, so recording doesn't happen.
