Macintosh Minimized stack won't become visible if app is clicked on

I have a standalone stub application that opens stacks like a document.

I can minimize the window down to the dock, where the icon is at the right end of the dock. If I click on that icon, the window opens back up.

However, this does not happen if I click on my application icon to the left of the documents area of the dock.

This used to work as expected.

How can I get the window to open back up when the application icon is clicked?
