Finding the 'Applications' folder on a Mac

It looks to me that specialFolderPath doesn’t give a way of finding the /Applications folder on a Mac (or presumably the equivalent on a PC). If one is running a standalone which has been placed in the Applications folder, then it is possible to start with specialFolderPath(“engine”) and work back to the Applications directory, but I suspect this is fraught with uncertainty. Has anyone a solution?
