Is there any way at all to have a mobile app simply resume rather than restart?

I read that on the forums, but I defer to Ralph on this.

I am playing with the hack now.

I think I could also have a legitimate reason for playing audio - changing the music as a user gets closer to a marker - but that would be a lot of trouble to set up right now.
