modal on mobile

now that we can use return for value and return for error, there are all
sorts of other nifty things that we can do, but on mobile, if we don't have
a way to generate a modal, then we're stuck with callbacks, so has anyone
come up with a different way to generate/simulate a modal on mobile (aside
from using a callback).
