Backdrop in in 6.7.0 dp2 under Lubuntu Linux 13.10

Mark Waddingham left a comment on my bug report that he thought he had
disabled backdrop in DP2 because he hadn't figured out how to get it
working properly so looks like not everything about it was disabled.  Due
to fixed in DP3.
