It used to be recommended that /var also be a separate partition. A well
known dos attack was to fill up /var/tmp, rendering the system dead.

Hey Richmond, if you liked Elementary, have a look at the latest Pear
Linux. A friend of mine switched from Win7, and he raves about how his
