Number of cards in a stack

I don't think there is a limit, but unlike HC, LC does not handle large card sets expeditiously. Finding and sorting is slower when you get into the several tens of thousands. Below, say, 5000 or 10,000, on modern machines, this should not be an issue.

What is the number of cards a stack can safely contain? A thousand? Five
hundred?

Thanks in advance.
