save data on cards in standalone app

Having been bitten by this myself, I will admit that it's a pet peeve of mine that this while issue of the inability to save data in a standalone isn't emphasised a hell of a lot more in the LC documentation.  As you point out, this isn't an LC restriction, it's an OS restriction but the process of developing an app in the IDE doesn't reflect that since you can happily have your data saved by the IDE and there's no clue that you shouldn't expect that to be the case when you build a standalone, except for a couple of sentences buried somewhere in the 400 or so pages of the User Guide.  And the whole issue is made more confusing by the mainstack/substack terminology in this context.

Experienced LC users know all this of course but this issue crops up time and time again on this list and on the forum from people who are trying their best to decipher the LC documentation, think they have it down only to be hit with this when they build their first standalone and possibly cost them hours of work figuring out how to deal with it.  At least that was my experience.
