Geometry Manager tutorial?

I've never made use of the geometry manager before.  What's is the best tutorial and where can I find it?

 I have a pretty simple stack with 5 cards, but with newer higher resolution screens things are just too tiny.  Should I just quiz the screen resolution and set each element manually in a preopenstack handler, or would the geometry manager work for this?
