Menu button with different fonts in label and menu?

What is the best was to achieve the effect of having a menu button, that is part of a group used as a menu bar, that has or appears to have a label that uses a standard font and menu items that use wingding characters?

Is there a field setting that would allow mouse clicks to pass through to the object below without graying out the text of the field?
