How to create a background process

Hi List,

I need launch a process that startup with the application and finish when
close the app. This with preopenstack and closestack can be controlled.
The process need every x time check or perform some action. But each time
that the process run the x var will be randomized and execute the process
depending the last x value.

Like a cron job but every new execution will be variable.

Any idea how to handle this?
