Reducing image file sizes

Oh. Seems like it should, but I'm no expert; I usually let Graphic 
Converter do it. :) Any idea how to reduce the file size while retaining 
the original dimensions then? And how will I know what those dimensions are?

This is a cross-platform app, but mostly sold to Windows users, so a Mac 
shell command won't work. :(
