Hi James

For your problem of generating the rainbow colours, I had a similar  
problem wanting to automatically generate a fade between any two  
colours. I do have uploaded an example stack to revOnline that creates  
gradients. Unfortunately there's several quirks and strange  
behaviours. Most are due to rounding error problems, but I'd wager  
some are also due to bad coding.
