Convert RGB to HSV

And one can convert to HSV directly and exclusively from RGB?  Without going out to some more universal format?

The math is everywhere on the internet. It was a lot of work to make  
the scripts for my little utility, that's why I won't post those  
scripts. It is still possible to do this yourself though, as the  
necessary formulas are available out there to be found.
