It all depends on what you need.

This wouldn't do for high quality cryptography, for instance, since a  
brute-force trial of possible seeds would eventually produce the same  
sequence of numbers.

For many other purposes, the fact that rev sets a new randomseed  
every time it starts up is good enough.
