The theory is, that if those elements were well written, they can  
drop into the new, cleaner code structure without a lot of muss and  
fuss. The babies can be lifted out of the dirty bathwater in the  
rusty tub and placed in a nice, clean bathtub with fresh water, and  
you still have your babies, and they are happier.
