There's no practical limit that I'm aware of.  I use libURL in my 
WebMerge product, and I have a customer who reports uploading more than 
300,000 pages in a single session; many of our customers upload thousands.

I haven't had a support request related to FTP in many years, thanks to 
Dave's excellent work on libURL.  :)
