Bill,

To continue in your OT vein, isn't it a violation of federal law (I think
it's the 1986 Computer Matching Records Act additions to the 1973 Privacy
Rights Act) to merge those different databases for comparison purposes?

I ghostwrote and handled correspondence on behalf of a local chapter of a
national civil rights organization to the Department of Justice on this
very issue which resulted in them backing down on trying to deport people
on the basis of comparing voting registration, immigration, and education
databases.

At least, it USED to be against the law. But then again, I guess rule by
law has become a bit of a quaint anachronism.
