Geometry problem on Mac OS X

I have three buttons next to each other. I have used the Geometry inspector
to scale and position these so they take up the full width of the stack,
and so that they retain a constant spacing from one another.

I notice that when I manually resize the stack *slowly*, it works
correctly. But when I do this fast, the right hand edges of the buttons
move to the correct positions, but the left hand edges remain where they
were, thus the buttons might overlap. Manual resizing slowly, again
corrects this.

When I type

resizestack

from the message box, corrects this too.

Any hints appreciated.
