Need A Simple Web-Based App

Hi Folks... I have a series of small standalone apps that I want to make
available to my clients through a web browser

In a quick search of the docs and other sources, I can find many references
to cgi and php development.  They all seem to deal with a specific problem.
I'm just starting to learn this.

What I'm looking for is a model of a simple web-based app that I can use to
understand how to communicate with my provider and develop a simple
web-based application myself.  Does anyone have a reference to such a model?
