"the environment" is a function which allows your scripts to determine 
whether or not they are running in the IDE.  For example, I use 
something like:

if the environment is not "development" then quit

To cause my app to quit under certain circumstances, but only if it is 
a standalone (I don't want it to quit in the IDE, since it would quit 
the entire IDE and not just close the stack...)

There is nothing for you to change in order to use this correctly; Rev 
does the work for you.  You can just use the function as it is.
