Thank you Cubist, Mark... but I wasn't clear in my request. E.g., "isn't"
should be allowed as a word, but not "," or "?" or anything else
non-wordish. I like both your reasoning patterns, though, so I'll see if I
can come up with a variation, plus promise to read up on Regular
Expressions.

And thank you, too, JB. Your charToNum solution is the one I've implemented
in the past. But was hoping for a builtin solution. Oh well.
