How to run a script using Shell in the background?

Xavier,

I forgot to mention that my platform is Linux...sorry.

Anyways, what I am trying to do is "spawn" the shell function so the 
user doesn't have to wait for the results to come back. So does anyone 
have experience with the send command in conjunction with the shell 
function?
