Console/Shell Programs Detecting GUI

nteresting, and a excelent suggestion. My question becomes whe I tested a few of my applications (standalones) on startup they attempted to contact the 'X' subsystem to create the visual representation of the main stack. Is that you experience? Am I doing something incorrectly?
