Drag & Drop to Windows Desktop

I've got a field with an image in it.  When I click and drag the image the appropriate Drag & Drop handlers execute and the mouse changes.  The only problem is that I can't seem to get it so I can drag the image (or text) to the Windows desktop.  It always turns into a "No" cursor.  Any ideas?
