Normally I have it on so I can manipulate individual controls. Then I 
have to toggle it when I want to:
	edit the group's script
	paste a control into the group
	move the entire group
	re-layer objects in the group
This is sufficient for me to like having in the toolbar so that I can 
toggle it quickly AND get visual feedback to tell me which mode I am 
currently in.
The docs show a shortcut for temporary toggling (Cmd-click or 
Cntl-click) but this doesn't work - at least not on my system (Mac OS X 
10.3.2).
