My guess, too.  There is a bugzilla entry (which is assigned!) for a 
recursion bug that showed up when script debugging was on.  I think it 
likely that when that is fixed a meaningful error message will pop up 
instead of a crash happening.  Well, as meaningful as some message 
about recursion or stacks can be.
