Just did some simple comparative tests (on Mac OSX 10.2.6) and it seems 
to be a Revolution related  "bug" because the same thing done with the 
Metacard IDE ( even put the latest rev engine [2.1b2] inside the 
Metacard.app) worked like a charm.

  Ahhh please don't give up. But also have a look (and test things) at 
the lean mean side (Metacard :^)
