Troy, that was an awesome answer, exactly what I
needed to know about the router.  Having set it up
myself, I know how to access the web page
configuration page, so that'll be no sweat.
 
I THINK I understand what I have to do.  I look at the
port that Simple Chat opens up, then configure my
browser to allow the forwarding of "range
{simpleChatPort} to {SimpleChatPort}" to go to the IP
of the computer on the  LAN running the server.

One last question on this topic,  are there generally
accepted ranges for different purposes?  Can I open
any port I want to (via rev) to do anything I want
(chat, ftp...)?  Are there ranges I shouldn't touch so
I don't confuse things on my computer?

does anyone else have any thoughts on how many
connections a rev based chat program could handle?
Anyone care to run a server and let a bunch of people
try to beat on it with chat clients?
