Yes, that's a separate problem. (What Chipp is talking about is a problem
where apostrophes don't get converted - I'm still trying to track down why
that's showing up for him.)

The problem is that the characters option-L, option-<, option->, and
option-=, which are part of the language on Mac OS and OS X systems, have
no equivalent in the character set used for Windows and Unix, so there's
nothing to convert them to. They need to be in the dictionary, but there's
no way to display these characters on Windows or Unix.

I'm not exactly sure what to do about this. On the one hand, I don't want
to hide them altogether since they are valid parts of the language (albeit
not on all platforms, and there's a warning not to use them because of
that). On the other hand, a box is not a terribly useful representation of
the character either.
