Hey Bob,

Through experience and failure, your system probably does not have all the
certificates in the key chain that is needed. (Its literally a chain of
keys being used to secure the payload) You need Apple's global distribution
certificate installed as well.

I use an app called Appwrapper that Mark Talluto told me about, its a
dream. one click code sign, and it helps you tofigure out what your system
is missing.

Also...using codex you can also get this done.
