LiveCode Community on Mac M4 ?

Hi all,

I just wanted to clarify a common misconception:

The reason LiveCode Community doesn’t run on newer Macs isn’t due to the M4 chip.

The real issue stems from a change Apple introduced starting with macOS 14 (Sonoma)—specifically, changes to how the Edit menu behaves and additional commands in it that affect older apps.

LiveCode Community runs perfectly on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, etc.) as long as you're using macOS Ventura (13.x.x) or earlier, with Rosetta 2 installed!

I ran into a similar issue with another app I loved, created with LiveCode—“Clarify” by Trevor DeVore—which also stopped working after Ventura due to being compiled pre-macOS 14, and therefore not compatible with it.

My workaround? I run Ventura (macOS 13.x.x) in a virtual machine on my M2 Mac, which has Sequoia installed as the host OS. It has worked flawlessly for the past two years.
