Hi Alex,
I might be a little late to this discussion. I understand that LiveCode
documentation can be somewhat hard to find, but there are at least four
or five published books on LiveCode, and a substantial amount of
information available online—obviously not at the same level as
something like Python, but still quite solid.
One practical solution is to use AI. I’ve been working with Gemini 3
alongside a couple of old internal programs I wrote years ago using
LiveCode Community, and I’ve been absolutely amazed by Gemini 3’s
capabilities with LiveCode.
It’s genuinely fascinating. It has given me advice and taught me
techniques I didn’t even know after more than ten years of programming
in LiveCode.
I’ve been able to improve those applications to levels I never would
have imagined. Honestly, I’m no longer worried about being an expert in
a less common language like LiveCode—Gemini 3 feels like having a
million LiveCode encyclopedias at my fingertips.
I can keep using LiveCode well into my 80s, without worrying about it
being a niche language or having limited documentation. Asking the AI is
all I need.
Best,
Hery
