Cropping invisible images

I tried to crop images with and without transparencies (both png images) programmatically as visible or hidden images and it worked all the time.
Imagedata was what was to be expected. Images were what was to be expected. I both expanded and cropped via the

crop image "imageName" to tNewRect
command using LC 10.0.0 RC1
