Script editor inserting periods

For some reason LC is auto inserting periods in the script editor - at the end of what it thinks is a sentence. If I don’t catch it then the code breaks of course. Is there somewhere I can turn that off? Couldn’t see anything in preferences. (LC 9.5.1)
