The Release Notes list these Win version as compatible with LC 9.6dp2:
- Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit)
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows 8.x (Desktop)
- Windows 10

Microsoft ended support for XP in Aug 2014, and strongly recommends 
upgrading to a supported version.
