yes, even my (not so smart) TV can play MP4 with AAc directly from an USB attached harddisk.

Well, no idea why they keep the name "QuickTime", since the current framework is the macOS AV-Framework
and no QuickTIme anymore.

However I still run Mojave, so I can use the old QT Player (PRO, I once bought a license a million years ago) and 
can use it to export audio/video to a variety of other codecs.
