The ".*" is the wild card(zero or more) and "\." Is the period.

filter tList with regex pattern "(?i).*\.(jpe?g|png|gif)$"

This is already case-insensitive, but the period needs an escape:

filter tList with regex pattern "\.*(jpe?g|png|gif)$"
