In this case - I think this isn't something we would want to do 
automatically as the browser width is a single tab (essentially). So the 
solution here is to ensure there is an actionable message.

Now, of course, with that mechanism in place, there's room for a 
property which says 'open new tab requests in this widget' - which might 
cover most cases of this which come up :)
