Oh good to know Mark. In my case this for internal consumption only, but if I do distribute an app based on the framework of utility functions and commands I have built up over the years, I can see I will have to address that.

Writing to stacks in your bundle will work if you do not need the app to be code-signed. If the app is to be distributed via the Apple Store or you just wanted your app code-signed to prevent GateKeeper showing up, you will need to write to files outside of the app bundle.
