Problem (or something I'm doing odd) with $_POST and LC Server

OK - I have half an answer to my own question ....

The failing form starts with

<form action='ttt.lc' method='post' accept-charset='utf-8' 
enctype='multipart/form-data'>

If I remove the    enctype='multipart/form-data'   part, it works OK.

Now I need to find out why I did that in the first place, or how to get 
the same result in another way (the real form does allow file 
specification / upload).
