Random? changes to textAlign

Ah, I suppose those could be mutually exclusive.  But, often, once I figure out a workaround to an engine bug, I find it was hiding my own bug.  Or the other way around (but maybe equivalent)--my bug exercises some unusual case that exposes the engine bug.
