I have done beacon work using Flash. The beacons tend to only update once per second, and then it can take several seconds to get an accurate average. Also, the signal strength jumps around a lot, so trilateration is harder to do than you might think.

I have 30 beacons at work! We’ve only used them in the field once, at an expo, with an iPad app that let visitors roam around the booth to get information about each particular area.
