I wrote user i/o for FP numbers on a custom super computer. I took care of every case I could imagine...11, 1.23, 1. E-10, 33 e2, 000.0001.... The person I demoed it for typed "+0". The entire super computer crashed faster than......

In the ’70’s in Seattle (and maybe other places), somebody marketed “telecalc”, a service that would make your touch-tone phone into a speaking calculator. It didn’t last long. Just for grins, I divided by 0 and it hung up the phone.
